This piece sounds like it would be interesting to hear.

David Cope’s “Children of Darkness” (2009), for example, was inspired by stories of runaways and abductees, and is a study in tension and anguish. But Mr. Cope evokes those qualities through a series of arresting, essentially tonal themes and a constant manipulation of textures and dynamics rather than through harmonic spikiness.
