Interesting how the travel disruptions caused Iceland's volcano have highlighted the now universal practice of importing musicians internationally.

By default, local has come to be considered below standard. Too bad. Perhaps this will change. Perhaps it already is. More intimate, local concerts are beginning to take hold in many cities, with chamber groups becoming known mainly in their home towns.

It is certainly more ecological.
