Naughty Composer Dec. 5

One of the pieces we played this weekend is Craig Courtney's Holiday Pops Overture, a standard of our annual holiday program. Near the end of it he wrote an unplayable section for the clarinets. Luckily he doubled it, meaning both clarinets play the same part, so we split it up to get something close to the effect he wanted.

Here it is, and if you click on the photo to enlarge it, you can see where I crossed out alternate measures (and a note in each measure). It goes by so quickly (in a very fast one to the bar), there's no way we could play all the notes.

Wow. So this is why it's so important to practice scale patterns in all keys! Did you fight over who got which bars?

lol. It didn't matter which bars we took. With a bar off, we can play all of them, just not all in a row.
